It was really a pleasure working with Sonny and her family. They were open to locations, and when I learned how much they loved the outdoors and fishing, I thought Millstream Park was the perfect place to capture this moment in their lives. The kids' fishing poles were rigged with bobbers (but no hooks, for safety), but they fished like they were going after the "big one". I think our photography session was more of a game or adventure for most of our time together, and it was so much fun being a part of it.
When I asked Sonny what she wanted to remember about her family, right now, she replied "I want to remember that at this time - family is really all my boys know. They are with one another 24/7 and Mom and Dad are still the coolest people they know. I love that about this age." It's so obvious to me that this family really loves each other. It was really a privilege to be able to look into this window of their lives.
Sonny is a really funny and beautiful woman. I was able to get a few images of just her while her husband took the kids out for some ice cream. She has a sarcastic sense of humor that I just love, and Sonny genuinely cares about the people around her. You know how some people just have an energy about them that you want to be around? That's Sonny.
