I just had to share this recent creation with you!
About the Image
MY THOUGHTS BEFORE AND WHILE PHOTOGRAPHING
It seems the grocery store is one of my frequent flower shopping locales. I added this little poinsettia to my shopping cart last week. It brings a little color and cheer into my dining room. And I also had plans to photograph it while it still looked nice. (Anyone else kill these things?)
At first I wasn't sure how to best capture the poinsettia. My first attempts were photographing the entire plant from a distance. But that just looked too plain. Getting closer solved that problem.
I wanted the tiny little yellow flowers to stand out a bit more, too. Again, moving closer helped here, too.
The red leaves are gorgeous. They have a strong role to play in this image. Balancing all this together is how the poinsettia was captured.
I was also photographing with the editing in mind that I was planning on doing. My vision doesn't always match my end result. I love when it all comes together in the end and I've created something a little more than just a poinsettia sitting on a table.
Contender for December 2017 in my Nature's Beauty Calendar
And the best thing is I've created something beautiful that doesn't need water for me to enjoy for a long time! And you can bet that this image will end up in my 2017 Nature's Beauty calendar. I know that sounds SO far away. But for me, I start on it in about nine months.
I've also added to my online shop. It doesn't have to be on display just for December. It's really for anyone who wants that pop of red on their walls or desk.
