The little boat in the middle of the calm blue waters is waiting for you.
Blue Tranquility is a film image that I really like from my vacation to New Zealand. Always on the lookout for a photo opportunity, I had my husband turn the car around because I knew I'd hate to not capture this calm scene with that small boat moored in the distance. I got out of the car and stood on the boat landing in the small town of Opononi on the north island of New Zealand and this is what I saw.
Speaking of driving, it's quite the experience to drive on the left side of the road. The easiest way to describe it is like being 15 again and learning to drive. Mentally it was very tiring. You wouldn't think it would be, but you have to constantly pay attention and fight driving behavior that's been ingrained for decades. Let's just say I lasted about two hours of the entire trip, then let my husband drive. I'm just glad he was better at it than me!
I had mentioned in my last blog post how most of my film images from New Zealand were very disappointing for me. I won't go in to the whys here, other than the result was a learning experience. But they all weren't failures. Thank goodness!
This image was photographed using Kodak Portra 160 film with a Nikon FE2 film, manual focus camera. Please note that larger images will show the grain of the film. This is natural and normal.
