I was finally able to make it to Hopkins to see the Arts in Harmony 2018 exhibit. OH MY GOSH what a ton of beautiful artwork! One of my favorites was a painting making a social commentary about the pursuit of money—involving Mickey Mouse caught in a mouse trap going after a $5 bill on a Monopoly board. It's on the first floor if you can stop by the Hopkins Center for the Arts before Friday, March 16th. Two of my photographs were accepted for this exhibit, The Wish, and the one shown here, The Other Side.
Going on the Road!
Select works from the main Arts in Harmony exhibit are chosen for extended exhibits in travelling shows. And one of mine was chosen!
The Other Side, is just that. The other side of orchid flowers. Not a conventional view, but sometimes it's that different viewpoint that can make all the difference! I've included the shopping link here, because even if you don't have a green thumb, you can enjoy this lovely all year round.
This image is also one of the ones that made me fall in love with shooting film. And while I don't use 35mm film all the time, it's results like this that make me load up a roll of film in the back of the camera.
The Other Side was selected for the Maple Grove Arts Center Traveling Show. This show runs from Monday, April 2 – Thursday, May 3, 2018. There will be no reception. The gallery is staffed by volunteers, and their website encourages you to call ahead to be sure they'll be open. But here are their hours from their website:
