I think I was watching NCIS when I thought of the attention grabbing title “The Autopsy”. Similar to that tv show, I’m going to examine the images I created and tell you what went wrong. This was my first outing with a Holga film camera. I have a lot to dissect, but I also learned a lot. But ultimately it was still a shitload of fun! …Click to read more…Read More

…most artists, and by "most" I'm talking specifically about me right now, are fascinated by more than one genre of their work. I absolutely love photographing flowers. But a lot of other subject matter catches my eye, too. (Rusty things, old buildings, or creating something really abstract.) It comes down the fact that I just frickin' love photographing lots of things! Except bugs. I don't like photographing bugs.Read More

A Little About Film Friend
This year I started a patron program called Film Friend. Basically, if you're a patron, you love my work and want to encourage and support me. I know many folks just don't have the room for wall art, but want to support me in some way. This is how you can!
There were some great patrons so far this year, and each received a 4x6 print from each negative from the roll of film they sponsored (usually 36 prints), plus a handwritten narrative about the images. (Yes, I said hand written. Goes well with "old school" film.) The goal was only for me to cover the expense of film, developing, your prints, and mailing costs....Also check out the sample of film images from 2017 so far!Read More

This is an image that I really like from my vacation to New Zealand. Always on the lookout for a photo opportunity, I had my husband turn the car around because I knew I'd hate to not capture this calm scene with that small boat moored in the distance.Read More
I've been mentally sitting on this blog post for a couple months. And yes, the title is a bit of an exaggeration, but it got your attention, right? Why am I bothering to put my thoughts into words about a negative experience? Because even though I don't think all our negative stuff in our lives needs to be broadcast, I do feel that others have experienced something similar — whether it be in photography, another art form, your job, or any aspect of your life. Life isn't perfect, no matter how many happy things we put on Facebook.Read More
Stillness in the Pines — Imagine walking through the pines in Oregon and experiencing the calming stillness of the landscape. Then stop. And just listen. A distant rustle of pine needles. A soft chirp of a nearby bird. An ever so slight breeze whispering through the pines. Besides the visual impression I give you, the one thing I wish I could also share is the quiet.....Read More
