  1. Receive a Limited Edition box of 36 signed 4x6 original prints — unedited, film images. Only YOU will receive this limited edition of ONE set of images!
  2. A unique glimpse of my creative process, that only you will have*.
  3. Plus, receive 25% discount on one future purchase**.

  5. A big THANK YOU!!!!
  6. To feel good knowing you are inspiring an artist to do more of what she loves to do!

* No guarantee of perfection. What this means is this is film, with no chance to delete the "oopses". While I strive for every frame to be a "keeper", you will likely see some images that are less than stellar. But the mistakes are part of the creative process, which I generally don't let people see.

** Certain limitations apply. What this means is that I will give you a discount code that is good online, or bring your receipt with you to redeem at an event where I am present in person. (There are some locations where my work is for sale and I'm not there, and don't handle the transaction. Email me, and there might be a way around this limitation.) Also, sponsorship or discount is not applicable to portrait sessions or portrait related product. The 25% discount is only valid on a full price item.

Please note you will not be receiving the actual film or negatives.

WHO IS THIS PERFECT FOR?

  • You enjoy being surprised, and are comfortable with the unknown.
  • You enjoy other analog experiences, like playing records or reading books in print.
  • It makes you feel good knowing you're helping inspire an artist to grow.
  • You just like photography, and would love a few new images.

Why Am I Doing This?

If you love playing records (I mean real vinyl records on a turntable), or you prefer reading a paper book instead of an e-book, then you'll understand that while a record is still music, and a paper book is still something you read, the whole experience of placing the record on a turntable and gently setting the needle in the groove, or turning a book page by page is a TOTALLY difference sensory and tactile experience than their digital counterparts.

If you relate to that, then you get why I want to add photographing with film to my creative toolbox. It's not better. Just different.

Creatively, film has a different appearance that cannot be achieved with digital technology. (It can come close, though, I won't lie.) The whole process of shooting with film is a slower process, from composing the shot to sending it off in the mail to be developed. Nothing is instant with 35mm film. Do you remember the anticipation you felt when you sent off your film in the mail, waiting anxiously and wondering "did they come out ok?" Or wondering "what IS on here?" because it took you a year to use up the entire roll?

While I won't take a year to use a roll of film, you get to experience the excitement of "what will I get?" While I'll let you express a preference for subject matter, I can't guarantee that that is what you'll get.

COLOR film — the details

The majority of my shooting will be with various kinds of color film. The flexibility I have with color film is that the scanned negative comes to me as a jpg, which I can convert digitally to b&w. The downside though is that color film and color processing is more expensive.

Images will range from florals, nature, travel, local scenery (which can range from farmland to old buildings), or abstracts. The variety that you see on my website gives you a good idea of what you may get. The images will generally not include people, unless it is a travel type photo. One roll of film may include images of the same or similar subjects (like flowers), or it may have a variety of subjects.

A total of 20 rolls of color film will be available to be sponsored in 2017. You can sponsor as many rolls as you like based on what is remaining for 2017.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY PRINTS? From the time I receive your paid FILM FRIEND sponsorship to you receiving the actual photographs is unknown, as this is for future film use, which will be spread throughout the year. If I do not use your sponsorship by the end of 2017, you will have the option to receive a refund or roll your sponsorship into 2018.

There are several b&w film choices out there, this is just one of them.

BLACK and WHITE film — the details

Black and white film has a nuance all it's own. And just like with color film, each type of b&w film looks different. Because there is no reverting back to the color image like in digital photography, I won't be shooting b&w as much.
